    This is a class aimed at PhD students who want to do applied empirical work on observational data. There are numerous classes that teach students empirical methods but fewer that teach the skill needed to wisely choose and execute an empirical project.  To convey that skill, we will walk through some of our favorite papers as a way to create discussion and illustrate key lessons.

    The class is restricted to PhD students who have taken at least one graduate econometrics class.  PhD students only: strict
