    This is a course about teams: How to lead a team, ensure coordination, deal with difficult team members, maintain high motivation and morale, and improve teams' decision making and performance. As most companies shift to remote team coordination, making your team effective and cohesive becomes one of the central challenges. We will engage in simulation and analysis of the most common issues faced by teams, and review a wealth of emergent strategies from both startups and large corporations in addressing them. Students will be assigned to different teams weekly to conduct exercises and evaluate team dynamics and their own approaches to dealing with the,. In addition, students will be assigned to a team at the beginning of the quarter to conduct a real-world team analysis and intervention project.
  • Prerequisites
    Cannot enroll in both 38116 and 38118: strict.  
  • Materials
    The Canvas site contains all the required readings; no textbook is required.
  • Grades
    Class participation, Midterm exam, Team consulting project. No pass/fail grades.
